Valentine's day and weekly preview....

Happy Valentine’s Day 2014!

This week we will continue with the reading series.  We will talk about story structure, problems and solutions within the stories we are reading.  We will also focus on long o, long u and contractions.  We will KEEP the same word study from last week and continue to work on those words and spelling patterns.

In math we will practice measuring with non-standard objects, beans, paper clips and candy hearts.  We will weigh, measure and practice estimating for most of the week.  We will then begin to work on counting coins, same and mixed.

We will begin to work on our Famous American unit.  This unit will focus on several famous Americans including George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington Carver, Eleanor Roosevelt, Benjamin Franklin and Martin Luther King, Jr.  This unit will last 2-3 weeks.  Your child will be able to identify each famous American's contribution to the USA when we have completed the unit as well as define the word contribution.

We will also have a guidance lesson this week.

Things to Remember:
Please send in a snack with your child daily.  If you are able to send in extras they would be greatly appreciated.
Stay tuned for upcoming events and pictures.
 Have a great week!
Mrs. Beltz
