Apples, Apples,

   We love APPLES!

We have learned a lot about apples this week.  We started with brainstorming a list of things we already knew about apples and added them to our apple tree.

We measured how many apples tall we were!  Can you guess how many apples tall your child was?

We made apple patterns, read “10 Apples Up On Top”, made our half eaten apples, and finished the week by doing a taste test.  We tasted apple juice, applesauce and plain apples.  Check out our graph to see what we liked the BEST! 

Thank you to everyone who sent in items for the taste testing!  We had a blast!

This week's star helper is Lindsey.  Lindsey's favorite color is purple.  She likes to play barbie with her friends.  Lindsey loves to eat strawberries!  Yummy!  Lindsey does a great job with helping to pass out papers to the rest of the class.  Way to go!

Weekly Preview- Sept. 17-21

This Week’s Preview

This week will continue to work on Concept of Word by learning a new poem called Apples.  We will work on learning how to do word study and we have even started learning about how to count syllables.  We will continue to work on writing one complete sentence in our journals.  We will continue to learn about AB patterns, review numbers to 10 and create and make some graphs about apples in math.  We will learn about living and nonliving things, what an apple tree needs to survive and how an apple tree changes with the seasons.  This will cover many science SOLS for the 1^st nine weeks.  We will also do some taste testing with apples, apple juice and applesauce.  YUM!  If you volunteered to send in an item, please do that as soon as you can.  Thank you for your support in helping make the next 2 weeks tasty fun! 

Yearbook sales begin tomorrow.  $14.00 to reserve a copy to be given out at the end of the year.

PE tomorrow.  Please wear the appropriate shoes.

This week’s star helper is Austin.  Austin loves to play Mario games.  He is great at remembering to carry our Emergency bag to Encore each day.  Austin loves when his mom packs him Mac & Cheese for lunch!  Keep up the great work!
