This week we will finish learning about our 5 senses. We will then begin to learn about Fire Safety. October is the month of fire safety. One thing we will discuss is having a safe meeting place for our families if our house is on fire. Please discuss with your child a place where you all could meet in the event of a fire. We will begin to learn about measuring in math. In Kindergarten, we use non-standard forms of measurement. We will use lots of different "tools" to measure with this week and learn the words shorter and longer.
We will begin the formal teaching of the letter R r and will continue to review the letter s. We will begin PALS testing Monday morning and continue throughout the next 2 weeks. Please have your child well rested and have a good breakfast each morning before coming to school. We will start to develop our own ideas for writing and use one of the basic model sentences we have practiced so far this year. My goal is for the students to draw a picture about what they would like to write about and then put what they drew about into words! We have already been taught all the sight words for this nine weeks and continue to review them daily.
